V14 – Health, Medical Sciences and Biomedical Devices

Notice Board -

   Horizontals

V14H1 Precision Health

‘Precision Health’ is a more accurate and precise way to measure health and health outcomes among patients. Precision Health aims to develop healthcare systems to focus on predicting, preventing, and curing a disease precisely. The horizontal on ‘Precision Health’ shall encompass sessions on Predictive and therapeutic genomics; Neuro-biomarkers in precision medicine; Making medicine preventive, predictive, personalized, and participatory; Cancer genomics; Personalized cancer therapy; and Precision medicine: Molecular insights. Marrying two seemingly different approaches — high-tech and high-touch — this vision tailors healthcare to the unique biology and life circumstances of each individual, with an emphasis on catching disease before it strikes.

V14H2 Holistic Health

The physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual health of an individual are considered to be intertwined and it is believed that being unwell in any one aspect affects a person in other aspects as well. Holistic medicine is a form of healing where one can achieve optimal health by gaining proper balance in all aspects of life. Holistic approach focuses on wellness and prevention, rather than just treating diseases, so that all these aspects are balanced to achieve and maintain maximum well-being and optimal health. Holistic health focuses on powerful interactions among mind and body of an individual and how they directly affect emotional, mental, social, spiritual, and behavioral factors of health and wellness. It comprises of intervention strategies such as yoga, relaxation, hypnosis, visual imagery, meditation, biofeedback, tai chi, qi gong, cognitive-behavioral therapies etc.

V14H3 Remote and Rural Health – Reaching the unreached

Some of the most common challenges pertaining to Remote and Rural Health are High Altitude Medicine; Infrastructure and capacity building in access to remote healthcare; Cost effective technologies for screening and management of rural nutritional health; Development of e- Health services in remote and rural India as part of Digital Health Mission; Trauma and emergency care in remote and hilly Areas; and Effective low cost cancer care. It must be made sure that the population in remote or rural areas has access to world class healthcare facilities.

V14H4 Technologies for Biomedical Devices in Healthcare

Advances in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) have been successfully integrated into many computer software and mobile apps that we use regularly. Artificial intelligence among others has emerged as one of the most important tools for progression of the Healthcare industry. Integration of AI in medical devices can significantly improve the accuracy and provide faster analysis from highly complex information making it much easier for the healthcare professionals to take right decisions in critical situations.
